Our Certified Weld Inspector in Decatur, IL is a vital part of the first line of defense to keep the assembly process and quality solutions running smoothly.

Our Certified Weld Inspector inspects parts being received by the customer, using proper inspection techniques and equipment. This task is also performed accurately, efficiently, and in a professional manner.


Inspect or perform audits on incoming material, using measuring and gauging tools as well as visual techniques in determining conformance to engineering specifications
Determine the methods and processes needed to measure part conformance according to the allowed dimensional tolerances and normal gauging practices
Document and report non-conformances to specifications using computerized quality documentation system
Contain non-conforming parts and materials
Sort and rework non-conforming parts and material
Prioritize the order of short-quantity loads, and manage first in, first out (FIFO) flow of received goods
Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned


Comprehension level knowledge and ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, including GD&T
Comprehension level knowledge and understanding of inspection techniques and the use of the appropriate measuring tools, equipment, and gages
Demonstrated ability in handling and maintaining precision measuring tools, equipment, and gages
Operating level proficiency using computer software programs


Weld Inspection Certification
High school diploma or equivalent
2 or 4-year technical degree preferred
Previous work experience in a quality background preferred


This position does not include supervisory responsibilities


This position is located in an industrial/production environment and as such may be exposed to the following:

Intermittent moving or lifting up to 50 pounds
Intermittent exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat
In proximity to moving, mechanical parts and machinery
Exposure to electrical shock and vibration
Exposure to noise level of industrial/production environment – Usually very loud
Working in close proximity to customer/client
Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation
Proper lifting and carrying of product procedures MUST be followed
